How It All Began
My name is Damian, and I am the founder and CEO of Rabbit Trans Poland. My journey in the transport industry began in 2015. Driving lorries no longer satisfied me, and although the taxi market in Gdańsk lacked competition from platforms like Uber, Bolt, or FreeNow, it was not in great shape.
Nevertheless, I decided to take the risk and try something new.
From the very first days as a taxi driver, I realised that this job gave me great satisfaction. It allowed me to see the city from a completely different perspective and meet people from all walks of life. For several years, I ran a one-man business, enjoying the independence and the ability to shape my own future.
Challenges and Market Changes
Over time, the industry began to evolve. The emergence of ride-hailing apps made traditional taxi services less competitive. Earnings declined while working hours increased. Many of my colleagues left the industry, but I chose to fight on.
I joined Gold Taxi, which opened the door to the premium market, allowing me to serve VIP clients and work with hotels. This was a major turning point – I saw that the transport sector had much more to offer than just daily city rides.
Eventually, I transitioned to Neptun Taxi, one of the largest local firms serving business and hotel clients. This enabled me to expand my network and grow my business further.
The Pandemic and the Struggle to Survive
2020 was meant to be a breakthrough year – my investments were expected to start paying off. Everything was going according to plan until the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill. Within months, I lost 99% of my bookings, and the transport market came to a halt.
Many transport providers shut down their businesses. However, I refused to give up. During this time, I made hundreds of phone calls and sent countless emails in search of new solutions.
Thanks to determination and adaptability, I managed to weather the storm. I introduced new services, including airport transfers and international transport, which allowed me to expand my operations across Europe.
