The history of the Gdynia Aquarium dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when it operated as part of the Marine Fisheries Laboratory in Hel, and in 1971, as the Oceanographic Museum and Marine Aquarium, it moved to Gdynia.


Since then, the place has been constantly developing, not only changing its name to the Gdynia Aquarium in 2003, but also expanding its exhibitions and improving spaces for visitors.


When visiting the Aquarium, expect to see not only colorful coral reef fish, mysterious sharks and octopuses, but also understand the depth of the marine world through the history of this unique place. Exhibitions at the Gdynia Aquarium present marine life from various corners of the world, from coral reefs to the ocean depths, while offering insight into Poland's maritime history.

When planning a visit to the MIR Gdynia Aquarium, it is worth paying attention to some key information that will make your day even more unforgettable. First check the opening hours, which vary depending on the season. It is important that you can make the most of the time spent with us, without rushing and in comfortable conditions.


Opening hours:


  • Spring (April 1 - May 31) : daily 9:00 - 19:00 (box office until 18:30)

  • Beginning of summer (June 1 - June 30) : daily 9:00 - 20:00 (box office until 19:30)

  • Peak of summer (July 1 - August 31) : daily 9:00 - 21:00 (box office until 20:30)

  • Beginning of autumn (September 1 - September 30) : daily 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (box office until 6:30 p.m.)

  • Late autumn (October 1 - October 30) : daily 10:00 - 17:00 (box office until 16:30)

  • Winter (November 2 - February 29) : Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 - 17:00 (box office until 16:30)

  • Early spring (March 1 - March 31) : Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 - 17:00 (box office until 16:30)


Remember about the days when the Aquarium is closed, such as November 1, December 24-25, December 31, January 1, and on Easter Day.


Ticket prices vary depending on the season. In the summer season (from May 1 to August 31), a regular ticket costs PLN 38 and a reduced ticket costs PLN 28. For people with disabilities, the ticket price is PLN 18 all year round. Outside the summer season, prices are slightly lower .


At the Gdynia Aquarium, it is worth taking advantage of the offer of family tickets, an annual personalized ticket or the Gdynia Aquarium Friend discount card, which offers additional benefits.


For people with small children and disabilities, the Aquarium offers numerous amenities, such as special strollers for transporting children around the exhibitions and ramps for wheelchairs.
