Travelling between these two cities, located in different countries but so close geographically and historically, is not just a journey from point A to point B. It is a real journey in time and space, full of unforgettable views and experiences.

Fasten your seat belts, because we have a fascinating journey ahead of us, during which we will discover both the practical aspects of such a trip and interesting facts that will make your time on the road more enjoyable. Ready?

Let's go on this amazing adventure!

How to get to Kaliningrad safely for a few euros?

The answer is simple. By bus… but let's start from the beginning. These two fascinating cities are separated by just over 180 kilometers, but they are also divided by the external border of the European Union, the Schengen zone and, if we don't swear by reality, also the border of another culture.

Why am I writing this? Well, to make you aware from the very beginning that such a journey, although close, is not as simple as it may seem.

First of all, we know what it is like now: sanctions, war, constantly spreading propaganda in the media and propaganda of some against others. For this reason alone, I personally advise against using hitchhiking or unprofessional services offered on Facebook groups.

You just never know who you're going to run into, and it gets worse as time goes on. Unless, as a Russian, you order transport from another Russian. But how many such carriers are there? Due to sanctions and the difficulties associated with them - less and less.

That's why I'll say it straight: if you can't afford individual taxi transport from Gdansk to Kaliningrad, then the only alternative is regular buses.

Where does the bus to Kaliningrad leave from?

If you are interested in traveling from Gdańsk by regular bus line, the only place from which buses depart at the moment is the PKS Bus Station in Gdańsk Główny at 3 Maja Street (GPS: 54.356328, 18.642696). There is no other place in the entire Tricity from which regular bus lines depart.

Okay, you landed at the airport in Gdańsk Rębiechowo, so how to get to the Gdańsk Główny PKS station? If you are considering traveling by bus, I assume that what matters to you is not time and comfort, but the low cost of travel.

Normally I would recommend you to take a Neptun Taxi in front of the Airport building, but it will cost you approximately: PLN 70 on a weekday and PLN 80/90 on Sundays, public holidays or after hours 22.

When you leave the arrivals building, go straight ahead along the white line, literally after about 50 meters you will notice bus stop of line 210. The bus with this number will take you to the Gdańsk Główny Railway Station. Your destination is literally on the other side of this station. You will get there through a tunnel, literally 10 minutes from the stop.

Once you are at the station, you have two carriers to choose from:

There is also a PKM suburban railway that leaves directly in front of the airport building. Unfortunately, the train does not go directly to Gdańsk Główny. You have to change the train at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz station, which makes the journey more complicated.
